With the birth of the aviator came the birth of Breitling watches, chronographs designed specifically as tools to be used in flight. In 1942 Willy Breitling, grandson of Leon Breitling, launched the first line of Breitling Chronomat watches. Breitling watches had long been a boon to aviators, but Chronomat watches were the first chronographs to be fitted with a circular slide rule, enhancing their usefulness in the air. Today the Breitling Chronomat flies on, although in a modified style developed with the advice of the Italian air force's acrobatic team. The new Breitling Navitimer Chronomat watches befit both bomber jacket and blazer, and balance their usefulness in the cockpit with an elegance and style that invites second looks on the ground as well.
