Officine Panerai watches was founded in Florence Italy in 1860 by Giovanni Panerai. Officine Panerai is still headquartered in Italy but has moved the production of their watches to Switzerland. In the early 1900's Panerai was the official supplier of watches and precision instruments for the Italian Royal Navy. Officine Panerai were one of the first watch manufacturing companies to experiment and use luminescent techniques to create wristwatches that are easy to read in low light. The unique design style of the Luminor and Radiomir, have led to the rapid rise in popularity for Officine Panerai watches today.
